About the Book
“I am a recovering workaholic, and I am writing this book to remind me of who I was. It has been written for me, but you are welcome to read it as well.”
So begins A Slow Walk, the story of a pastor who spent a lifetime working hard for God and nearly missed being with Him. Raised on a small North Carolina farm where busyness was a way of life, George Cline carried that pace into more than five decades of public ministry, until the Father's gentle whisper interrupted the hurry: Stop running. Just walk with Me.
This is not a book about doing more. It is about stillness, silence, solitude, and surrender - the unhurried practices that reorder a soul. Chapter by chapter, it trades the tyranny of the to-do list for the presence of a Father who has never once been in a hurry.
The Slow Walk doesn't free your schedule - it frees your soul.from Chapter 2
Twelve Discoveries
Discoveries the author made about the God he did not know - here are the first five.
- He's not mad at me.
- He is not disappointed in me.
- He loves me more than I love myself - which is saying a lot.
- He always has time for me, even though He has a universe to manage.
- He keeps my picture in His wallet.
The other seven are waiting inside the book.
About the Author
George W. Cline has spent a lifetime in public ministry as a pastor, missionary, and teacher. He spent eleven of those years as a radio DJ, which explains why this book keeps breaking into song. He and his wife, Nancy, married in 1965, five months after the Lord pointed her out to him in a college bookstore. Sixty years later, he still calls her the best thing that ever happened to him.
These days George practices what he preaches: he walks slowly, listens deeply, and stays close.
